Fresh Island uses peer-to-peer to attract festival fans from across Europe

Every year since 2012, Zrce Beach in Croatia has hosted one of Europe's fastest growing hip-hop festivals - Fresh Island. Originally hosting an audience of 2,000 dedicated fans, Fresh Island has grown by 500% in just four years. The show now attracts over 10,000 people from across the world, with acts including Chris Brown, Snoop Dogg, Action Bronson, Stormzy and many more.

Word of mouth has always played an important part in Fresh Island's growth and the team pride themselves on how keenly they understand their audience.

Knowing a recommendation from a friend is the number one reason most fans purchase a ticket, the team had experimented with their own ambassador program in the past. However this proved difficult to manage without expert support, so in 2016 Fresh Island turned to StreetTeam to create an ambassador program which could attract fans from throughout the rest of Europe.

Working closely with Fresh Island co-founder Damir Stupnišek, the StreetTeam client success team designed a generous ambassador reward scheme which would appeal to European fans. Rewards ranged from a free ticket for ambassadors who sold five tickets through to a VIP party package and chance to meet headline acts for those who sold more than 100 tickets.

"Creating experiential, authentic rewards like this ensures you're attracting ambassadors who really love what you do and want to support you," said StreetTeam Client Success Manager Ellen Tumulty. "Fresh Island's ambassadors were really passionate about supporting the show - and they were great fun to work with too!"

Once the ambassador program went live, the effect was immediate and Fresh Island's fans began signing up as ambassadors straight away.

"It was great to see the fans spreading the word about Fresh Island," said Damir Stupnišekr. "Best of all, we could track how those conversations turned directly into ticket sales."
